| Albert Pike lived at the time of the U.S. Civil War. He was an adventurer, a general, a lawyer, an author, and a very famous Freemason. He was a Confederate general on the western part of the war. He wrote the original words to "Dixie." He was not a Confederate hardliner, however; nor was he racist. He had his own view of things.
He was mostly known as a leading Freemason. In 1859 he was elected Sovereign Grand Commander of the Supreme Council of the Scottish Rite Freemasons Southern Jurisdiction. He rewrote all of their rituals and added much new material. His works include MAGNUM OPUS, MORALS AND DOGMA, PORCH AND MIDDLE CHAMBER, and many more.
His favorite subject was explaining and comparing various religions both recent and ancient. He found common threads in all of them. If anyone could explain THE FORCE, it was certainly him.
