Chronology of Fee Bussing, including J and High School
- Bussing of elementary (from North and South Hills) and of middle
school (from Stanford, North and South Hills) for more than 15 years.
Originally free.
Jan. 9, 2003 meeting of Dr. Robert Golton, Associate Superintendent,
and Peggy Esber, Debbie Duncan. Agreement that high school fee bussing
will reduce traffic on Arastradero and therefore important for Terman
EIR and bring in new revenues to the District.
- 2003-04 school year has high school bussing from North and South
Hills (Y and Z busses); practice continues to this day. Note: Y and Z
busses have changed their routes over the years to provide new service
to Terman and Gunn. They used a transfer point in 03-04, for example,
but traveled separate routes in 04-05.
- 2004-05 Gunn students from Stanford have afternoon only
(no morning) fee bus service. Practice continues to this day.
2003-04 school year several new busses (G,H,I,J) serve Nixon students,
transport them from North and South Hills, Stanford campus, Stanford
West to Nixon at Garland site, next to Jordan.
- J bus route goes from Stanford West to Nixon-Garland, then on to
Terman.
- Spring of 2004, Gunn's Organization for Safe, Alternative
Transportation (GOFAST) Bus Group works with Kathy Durkin to keep the
J route, scheduled for cancellation. G, H, and I are cancelled.
- 2004-05 and 2005-06 school years. J route serves Stanford West
students going to Nixon, Terman and Gunn. Route: Sand Hill Rd. to
Gunn to Terman to Nixon. Travel time from last Stanford West stop to
Nixon for elementary students: 35 min. (Projected direct travel time
from Stanford West to Nixon School: 11-13 minutes.)
