The protagonists: Jeff Fish on the left and me (Hugh Yeman) on the right
Jeff: Ongoing thanks are in order for scanning the pictures and for your input and ideas for the site,
not to mention
your ability to tolerate long periods of isolation with me.
This site contains accounts of canoe trips in New York State's Adirondack Park by Jeff Fish and myself, Hugh Yeman. If you wish to use them to gauge the feasibility of such a trip, you should know that Jeff and I are 28 and 30 years old, respectively. I would not consider either of us to be very athletic, although we are reasonably robust guys who enjoy vigorous outdoor recreation. We are more accustomed to lower-body than upper-body exercise, but we make up in enthusiasm, determination and stamina what we may lack in extreme musculature. For the sake of convenience, comprehensiveness, and accuracy I use a Sony TCM-465V handheld cassette recorder strapped to my lifejacket to document the trips.
In these narratives I attempt not only to provide a practical account of our trips, but also to share the profound effect the Adirondacks have on my soul. The latter purpose is fulfilled via ramblings, musings, and my very purple prose, which the self-respecting reader may want to avoid. To this end, these comments are shown in italics. So that the reader may get a feel for the relative isolation of each area, facts about the number of other boats encountered on the trip are shown in boldface.
