Directions to launch area: Take the New York State Thruway (I90) to Rt. 12 N, then to Rt. 28 N, and then left onto Rt. 30 at the base of Blue Mountain. Take Rt. 30 N until you pass a road on the right with a sign for a golf course. Soon after this you will see the parking area on the left.
The following is an account of a two-day, fifty-mile trip ranging from Tupper Lake to Raquette Falls and back. The weekend in question was at the end of a summer of drought the likes of which the area had not seen in my memory, so canoeists may safely disregard any mention of prohibitively shallow areas.
