Programs
Samaritan Tree - A program providing Christmas presents to area children
Operation Hand Up - A program offering assistance to clients with coping skills in areas that range from budgeting to parenting skills. Each client is matched with a volunteer mentor to provide individualized encouragement and guidance. On July 15, 1996 the Hendersonville Samaritan Association enacted two interdependent programs for the purpose of encouraging and assisting client families of Sumner County to become more self-sufficient with a more productive lifestyle. By this action the Board of the HSA has committed to providing more than a handout program; it will provide a hand-up as well for those who will take advantage of what these programs will offer.
1. Coping Skills Development Program: This program supports our client's efforts to develop coping skills through (a) educational models the HSA develops within its resources and (b) through referral to other agencies who have resources beyond those of the HSA.
2. Volunteer Mentor Program: This program uses volunteer mentors to provide individualized encouragement and guidance to selected client families who are willing to make efforts to obtain for themselves a greater degree of self-sufficiency and a more satisfying lifestyle.
