Home STAR WARS: The Big Picture STAR WARS: Episode III Other

If I could, I would add one more character to this movie. I would start with Episode II where Anakin has this other female in the background. This other woman goes on the bike with Anakin to search for his mother, where she helps him fight the sand people. This woman would be emotionally close to Anakin like two Viet Nam vets who shared the same combat experience. Palpatine would prefer this woman to Padme. She has both Anakin and Palpatine to dinner at times.

When things get tough for Anakin and exhausting due to all the false faces, Anakin would come to this woman to talk and find his true feelings. This woman would be more like Anakin, only a female of course, the old like-attracts-like principle. Opposites attract only if the opposite is in reference to gender.

This woman would be trusted by Palpatine in the opera scene to also hear the Sith pitch. When Anakin reports to Mace that Palpatine is a Sith, this woman would wait with Anakin in the temple so when Anakin senses that Palpatine needs him and rushes back to Palpatine's office, this woman would be with him. After Anakin disarms Mace and takes the Sith oath before Palpatine, this woman would be with him.

Due to their closeness, Anakin would have taught this woman some Jedi stuff and use of the Force. Together they, with the clone troopers, would kill the Jedi. Then, Vader is sent to Mustafar to kill the separatist leaders. For some reason Palpatine tells this woman to stay behind. Then, as we all know, Obi-Wan appears and the light saber fight starts.

If I had my way, I would have it so this woman comes in the nick of time, shooting Obi-Wan in the back, catching him off guard; and Obi-Wan dies. But due to Episode IV, we are stuck with the tragedy. So, since according to the script, I cannot rescue Vader to show love and loyalty, I can only do the next best thing, and that is: This woman senses Vader is in trouble before Palpatine and arrives after Vader is burned with no legs near the lava but before Obi-Wan has left. Upon seeing someone she loves badly hurt and the culprit still there gloating, she attacks Obi-Wan; but her skills are no match for the seasoned master, and she ends up burned beside her beloved Vader.

Vader then sees his true love next to himself, and though in pain smiles at the one who was loyal to him. She looks lovingly back at him. Then, of course, due to the pain, they both cry out in pain. So, when Palpatine arrives, he shows compassion on both and saves the two of them. So, both then are put in the suit, Mr. and Mrs. Darth Vader.
